Surprisingly quiet

One of the most common questions we get is how noisy the DualForce is. With two motors and two outlets, most people expect it to be louder than a standard waist fan. On its lower settings it is the opposite. It runs quieter than most waist fans we have measured.

The reason is in how it moves air. Two outlets let the DualForce push more air while the motors spin at a lower RPM, so you get strong airflow without working the fan hard. Pair that with our brushless CapyCool motors and it stays quiet through the low and mid speeds you will use most of the time indoors.

In our own testing the DualForce sat at around 49 dB on its lowest setting. Some competitor waist fans we measured ran close to 60 dB on their lowest setting.

Not all Fans are Created Equal

Seen a $20 fan and wondered what makes CapyCool different?

On the outside, many fans look similar. Same shape, similar size, even similar specs on paper.

But the real difference is hidden inside.

Take the motor, for example. Our waist fans use high-quality brushless motors with all-copper wiring, ball bearings, stronger magnets, and better internal materials. These small details can be the difference between a motor that lasts up to 6,000 hours and one that gives out much sooner.

And the motor is just one part of it.

We also use higher quality batteries, safer PCB boards with overload and protection features, high-grade ABS plastic instead of cheap recycled materials, and more.

Most of it is hidden inside.

But it’s why CapyCool fans are quieter, tougher, longer-lasting, and trusted by some of Australia’s toughest workers.

DualForce Tradie Waist Fan FAQ

Straight answers to the questions tradies and buyers ask us most, including the honest limits. Tap a question to open it.

Wondering what makes a CapyCool fan different from a $20 one?

The difference is inside: a brushless motor rated for up to around 6,000 hours, all copper wiring, genuine capacity battery cells, a protected circuit board and a high grade ABS shell. We pulled a fan apart part by part and explained what each one means for you.

Power and cooling

Will the DualForce actually cool me down, or just push warm air around?

A personal fan cools you by moving air across your skin so sweat evaporates faster and heat is carried away from your body. The DualForce pushes far more air than a basic handheld, up to 8 m/s from its twin outlets compared with roughly 2 to 3 m/s on a cheap portable fan, and it works best when that air reaches your skin or travels through your shirt. Worn at the waist it sends air up your torso, which is where evaporative cooling does the most work. The honest limit: on a still, extremely hot day in full sun the air it moves is close to the air temperature, so it feels less dramatic than in shade or with a breeze. It is a personal fan, not an air conditioner, and it will not cool a whole room.

How powerful is it compared to a normal portable fan?

The DualForce runs a dual turbo motor system with two motors spinning at around 14,600 RPM, pushing airflow up to 8 m/s and reaching roughly 3.5 metres. That is close to double the air volume of our original waist fan and well beyond a typical $20 handheld, which moves air at about 2 to 3 m/s. There are five speeds plus a one touch Storm Mode for instant maximum airflow when the heat climbs. For close range personal cooling it is one of the strongest wearable fans you can buy.

Does it work under a hi-vis shirt or work uniform?

Yes. Clipped at the waist or inside your shirt, it pushes air up against your torso and out through the collar, which is the cooling most tradies are after under hi-vis. The one thing to watch is fabric sitting directly over the outlet, which blocks the airflow until you reposition it. Give the outlet a clear path and the air moves freely. Worn on the lanyard around your neck it directs air straight at your face and chest instead.

Battery and charging

How long does the battery last on one charge?

It depends on the speed. On the lowest setting the 14,500mAh battery runs up to about 40 hours, a full work week for many people. On full Storm Mode expect roughly 4 hours of maximum airflow. Most users land in between, with verified reviewers reporting 20 to 35 hours depending on how hard they push it. One warehouse worker in WA reported it easily lasting two full shifts on medium. Battery life is the single most mentioned feature across our June 2026 review analysis of more than 900 verified reviews.

How long does it take to recharge?

Because the battery is large at 14,500mAh, a full recharge takes longer than a small cheap fan. That is the trade-off for run time measured in days rather than hours. Charging overnight or during a break covers most use. A few reviewers note the longer charge time directly, and accept it for the battery life they get in return.

Can it charge my phone?

Yes. The 14,500mAh battery doubles as a backup power source, so you can top up a phone from it in an emergency, enough for several charges across the day. Plenty of owners list this as a genuinely useful bonus on site. The fan is the main job and the charge-out function is there for when you are caught short.

Wearing it day to day

Is 480g too heavy to wear all day?

At 480g the DualForce is heavier than a basic fan, and most owners reframe that weight as exactly what they wanted: a bigger battery and a tougher build. The waist clip carries the load on your belt rather than your shoulders, so it sits comfortably through a shift. If you want the lightest option for casual all day wear, our original 3-in-1 Waist Fan is the lighter pick. If you want maximum airflow and the longest run time, the DualForce is built for it.

How do I wear it?

Five ways. Clip it to your belt, clip it inside your shirt for direct cooling, hang it around your neck on the lanyard for hands free use, stand it on a desk or bench on its kickstand, or prop it on the dashboard for the drive home. The four manganese clips, two for belts and two for shirts, grip harder than standard clips and face opposite directions, so you can position it however the job needs.

Is it noisy?

On the lower speeds it is quiet enough for an office or a quiet room. At the top speeds and on Storm Mode it is clearly audible, which is expected from a fan moving this much air. Most owners run it low indoors and turn it up outdoors where the noise does not matter. We would rather tell you that up front than have you surprised by it.

Build and what is inside

What makes the DualForce different from a $20 fan?

From the outside many fans look the same. The difference is inside. The DualForce uses a high quality brushless motor with all copper wiring, ball bearings and stronger magnets, rated for up to around 6,000 hours of running. It also uses genuine capacity battery cells, a safer circuit board with overload protection, and a high grade ABS shell with a removable silicone cover, rather than the recycled plastics and copper clad steel common in cheap fans. Those hidden parts are why it runs quieter, lasts longer and survives a worksite.

We took a fan apart, part by part, and explained the lot in plain language. Read the full article on why CapyCool fans are different.

What is a brushless motor and why does it matter?

A cheap brushed motor uses small carbon contacts that physically rub as it spins, wearing down, heating up and getting louder until they fail. A brushless motor switches power electronically with nothing rubbing, so it runs cooler, quieter and far longer. It is the same upgrade the better cordless power tools made years ago. The DualForce motor is rated for up to around 6,000 hours, roughly triple a typical brushed fan, which is a big part of why it keeps performing season after season.

Is it tough enough for a real worksite?

It is built for it. The DualForce is drop, knock, dust and spill resistant, with a removable silicone shell that takes the hit when it falls onto concrete, dust covers over the charging ports, and four manganese steel clips that hold firm. It also has an emergency LED with an SOS function. The premium ABS body and protected internals are designed for long shifts in heat, dust and grime, not a tidy desk.

Choosing and using it

Should I get the DualForce or the original 3-in-1 Waist Fan?

Honest answer: for most people the original 3-in-1 Waist Fan is plenty, and several reviewers say so themselves. Choose the DualForce if you specifically want the most airflow, the longest run time and the toughest build for demanding trade or warehouse conditions. Choose the original if you want a lighter, more compact fan for everyday wear that moves easily from the worksite to the weekend. Both share the same CapyCool internals and quality. The DualForce simply pushes harder.

Is it only for tradies?

No. It is built tough for tradies and loved by everyone. The same airflow that cuts through heat on site works just as well for camping, driving, working from home, sport and events, and it is a common pick for women managing hot flushes who want strong, on demand cooling. Standing on its kickstand it makes a capable desk fan with up to 3.5 metres of reach.

Can I mount it in my car, ute or on scaffolding?

Yes. The DualForce pairs with magnet and clamp mounts so you can fix it to a vehicle, a bench, scaffolding or a warehouse position and point the airflow where you need it. This is the basis of our vehicle bundle. If you want it mainly for fixed positions, the mount options are worth adding.

Buying with confidence

What colours does it come in?

Four: Orange, Grey, Black and Green.

What about warranty, shipping and returns?

Every DualForce comes with a one year Australian warranty. Shipping is free on orders over $50, dispatched fast from our Sydney warehouse, with same day pick up available on request before a heatwave. Returns are free within 30 days if it is not right for you. CapyCool is Australian owned and operated, which is why next day delivery comes up so often in our reviews.

Do tradies actually rate it?

Yes. The DualForce holds a 4.9 average across more than 70 reviews, and it is a regular team buy: a business orders one to test, the crew competes over it, and a bigger order follows. A mining warehouse worker in WA reported it lasting two full shifts on medium in a tin shed with no airflow. Another buyer in Melbourne said it handled a 40°C day better than he expected. One customer thanked our team for being upfront about the drawbacks, like the noise on high, before he bought. That honesty is the point.
