Tradie Fan FAQs
Built for tradies, loved by ladies. Honest answers on battery, airflow, durability and wear on site, from the crews who run them every day.
What is the best fan for working outside in the heat?
The DualForce Tradie Waist Fan is our pick for heavy use. It runs a 14,500mAh battery and dual brushless motors, so it moves a lot of air and keeps going for two full shifts on medium. If you want lighter and a bit cheaper, the 3-in-1 Waist Fan covers most workers comfortably. Both clip to your belt and push air up through your shirt, which is the airflow position that helps most when you are on the tools.
How long does it last on a single charge?
The DualForce regularly runs 20 to 35 hours depending on speed, with crews reporting two full shifts on medium before a recharge. The 3-in-1 covers a standard eight-hour day at higher settings and several days on lower ones. Battery life is the number one thing our customers mention, and it is the main reason they upgrade from a cheaper fan that dies before smoko.
Why brushless motors?
It is the same reason your good cordless tools moved to brushless. A brushless motor runs cooler, lasts longer and squeezes more airflow and run time out of the same battery than a cheap brushed motor. On the DualForce that means stronger air and a longer day from one charge, which is what you want from a fan that gets worn through a full shift.
Will it fit under hi-vis and a work belt?
Yes. It clips to a belt, waistband or pocket and sits at the waist so the airflow travels up under your shirt or hi-vis. You can also mount it with the magnet or clamp accessory on a bench, scaffold, ute or warehouse shelf when you are working in one spot. The DualForce is heavier and bulkier than a basic fan, which most tradies accept as the trade for the power and battery.
Can I buy a few for the crew?
Plenty of teams do. A common pattern in our reviews is one person buys a fan to test, the rest of the crew fights over it, and the order goes in for more. Safety managers and warehouse leads buy units to share across teams in tin sheds with no airflow. If you want to sort out a larger order or a fleet, get in touch and we can help.
Is it actually better than a cheap site fan?
On build and battery, the difference is the most repeated theme in our reviews. Cheap fans feel flimsy and run flat fast. CapyCool fans are built to take a knock and last the day, ship from our Sydney warehouse, and have Australian support behind them. We are also upfront about the limits: it is a personal fan, it is audible at top speed, and on a still 40-degree day it moves warm air, so it works best with airflow under the shirt or in the shade.
Does it help on cold mornings too?
The fan is for the heat, but a lot of our trade customers add the CapyCosy Twin Hand Warmer for cold starts and frosty mornings, where warm hands mean better grip and dexterity on the tools. It is a separate product, worth a look if you work through winter as well as summer.
What tradies say
Verified reviews from the people who run them on site.
This beast of a fan. So much airflow and the fact it actually lasts 20 to 30 hours depending on speed is crazy.
I work in a mining parts warehouse in WA. Big tin shed, no real airflow. Having airflow on your core makes a huge difference. Battery easily lasts two full shifts on medium.
We chatted for 30 minutes before settling on this fan. They never tried to push the sale and even told me the drawbacks, like it can be a bit loud. Appreciate the transparency.
Bought 3 for the team on a Thursday, arrived Friday. After playing with it for the day, the boys are all taking them home for the long weekend.
These absolutely saved me on the job site in 39 degree weather.
As a safety manager, I purchased 3 units for our maintenance team. They couldn't believe how much difference they made.
